Roxxi Ryan's Diary

Roxxi Ryan's Diary

Hey World, Boredom sucks!!!!

Dear Diary,
BLAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! School is sick in my body. Yada yada yada. Gosh the teacher can't even keep her damn mouth shut -_-"", Oh god, Draculaura turned back into human cuz she was "flying" and fell behind the teacher. Ugh, She will never ever learn that she can get into trouble. Why can't the clock tick faster..........YAAAAAY!!!!! Class is over and now, CRANK UP MY MP3 and listen to some techno music!!!!!!!!

Dear Diary,
Eating out, But its not at a fast food place, Its a annoying restaurant?!?! I was sooooo bored so I took a fake rat and let it run in Cleo's room and she blew up! HAHAHAHA It was funny ^_^ Anyways, I dressed in a black dress with black gloves and leather boots. A perfect match. Oh and Cleo couldnt even fit in the car since her giant butt was filled with her ugly 1988 dress. Jade pulled out her scissors and styled the dress which was cute but not my style. When we arrived to the restaurant, I ordered a hamburger and fries which was weird cuz, HELLO, Its a fancy restaurant but I order what I want and I eat it up! Anyways, When I was about to eat my fries, Cleo yelled at something and almost got us kicked out. Her food was horrible and she ran into the kitchen and it was mad crazy....When we left, Everybody looked at us but I didn't seem to care, I walked with my hot strut and walked with my head up high!!!!! When we arrived home, We made a vow that we should never, ever bring Cleo to a Night out. Even if its a drive to a grocery store -_-******

Dear Lamo Diary,
Sunday, Ugh I hate it cuz then, we would be going back to school tomorrow which sucks badly. But this morning I was in the bathroom straighten my hair til I hair began to fell until I noticed that my streaks were falling and It was horrible. Every streak fell in the sink and I had to style my hair and It took forever but I got my brown hair to cover the bald spots. Anyways, We all woke up and I was sitting by the window looking out. It was pretty but Draculaura gave me breakfast and I noticed that she placed veggies in her breakfast and I questioned her but she didn't reply back. I guess I wasnt suppose to open my mouth about that, But after breakfast, Carrie suggest we should take a walk to the pet shelter and we decided to take Leora along. Along our way, We met a German Shepherd and Carrie bought it in. When we were at the shelter, Carrie was talking to the owners and Leora was texting til I noticed that a Chihuahua and the German Shepherd were cuddling together and I tapped Carrie's shoulder. She was thrilled and snapped it in her phone. Hmm Today was fun......Oh wait, SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW?!?!?!?!?!?! UGHHHHHHHHH DAMN SCHOOOOOOOOOOOL DX<<<<<<<)

Dear Diary,
Late-Night Party. Awesome dude. I ran to my room and picked out a club outfit. It was black nylon leggings, a striped ripped top that shows my chest and a leather coat with black heeled boots. It was hot!!!!!! When we arrived, I grabbed my friends and danced on the dance floor. I guess many guys saw me when I whipped my hair back and forth. It was crazy cuz when I was in the corner, they kept looking at me and they were about to touch me. EWWWWW I even noticed that one guy had a ring on his finger and he was hitting on me? DISGUSTING!!!!! Married Guys Should Never Hit On Single Girls!!!!!!!! Anyways, there was a competition between me and my friends. Joelle, Kumi, and Me V.S. Jade, Phoebe, and Carrie and we fought and danced at the same time but we didn't win since Carrie, Phoebe, and Jade had the best move. Not bad for a rookie! We were about to leave til I heard sirens and saw that some gangsters were getting arrested. We saw Carrie and she was a mess. Everything was ruined on her and we had to give treatment to her, But I had fun :))))))))))

Dear Dairy, Whoops Diary :P
Yay! Me and Phoebe planned a cookout with our friends and we called everybody to come and hang out! Deuce cooked some hamburger and I pigged out like 3 double large burgers and Phoebe kept telling me to slow down or I will gain weight. After that, My mom bought out a Cookie and Cream cake and It was freezing but good. The cookie was soooo yummy!!!!!!
Anyways, after the cookout, All of us drove to a hill and we saw the view of Konoha and the stars. It reminded me when me and Phoebe moved here :DDDD It was scary-cool!!!!!!! We drove back to my house and the others spent the night with us in my rockin basement!!!!! It has everything i want like a Flat-screen tv, and a dance club :P I couldn't sleep also Carrie couldnt sleep too so we decided to take a walk together at night. It was beautiful!!!! When we came home, We went to my room and hang for a bit until bedtime. :))))))) Late night never can be soooo cool ^___^

Cheraw

Cheraw

On the 20th February 1987, Mizoram became the 23rd state of India. Sharing borders with Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Bangladesh and Myanmar, it’s capital, Aizawl, rises from dense jungle floor to rest high on a mountainous ridge 1132metres above sea level.

The Mizos are an ethnic group of people, native to North East India, Myanmar and Eastern Bangladesh. The origin of the Mizos, like those of many other tribes in the North Eastern India, is shrouded in mystery. Originally known as Lushai, the generally accepted view is that they are of Mongol descent and were part of a great wave of migration from China to India in the 18th and 19th C.

I’d travelled for seven hours over treacherous roads to witness Chapchar Kut 2010. The annual festival of “Chapchar Kut” occurs every March, to celebrate the oncoming spring season. Farmers cut the bamboo forests in a slash and burn agricultural technique known as jhum. Chapchar is the time in which they wait for the chopped bamboo heaps to dry under the sun before being burned. Kut, simply means festival. This year’s Chapchar kut was to be extra special. The young people of Mizoram were attempting to set a new world record for dancing the “Cheraw” (bamboo pole dancing).

The parade ground of the Assam Rifles was packed when I got there and I was welcomed like a long lost son of Mizoram. Despite it being a “dry” state, I was stopped by an old tribal warrior and offered the local rice wine. It’d have been rude not to accept but I really wish I hadn’t. My throat felt like it was on fire and I was required to sip it out of some dead animal’s horn. Mind you, the reaction on my face had the locals howling with laughter!

I can be a bit cynical of the whole world record business and I really should try and reign in my natural instincts. These people are deadly serious! I tend to forget that, unlike some elements in Western culture, these people cherish their customs and traditions. They act as a community strengthening and bonding device. And it seems to work. Young and old alike were enjoying the party atmosphere.

After three rehearsals we were treated to tiffin. Not only do they entertain us, they feed us too! The arena was cleared of non-participants and the record attempt began. It was a most impressive countdown with everyone taking part. ”Three… two…one …” the music started and the dance began.

Men, sit face to face on the ground, tapping long pairs of horizontal and cross bamboo poles open and closed in time to rhythmic beats. Girls in colourful Mizo costumes dance in and out between the beats of the bamboo poles.

Over 10,000 young people danced, creating over 670 sets of Cheraw. So many took part, they danced up Aizawl’s main street, for once devoid of traffic. People sang, flags waved, hands clapped and the smiles…Oh, those glorious smiles from the young people! The assembled masses were having fun! Simple, honest to goodness fun. Not a PSP, I-Phone or Mp3 player in sight! It was a joy to witness.
The actual dance lasted for the best part of ten minutes. How they managed to dance in all that heat still amazes me. Some young girls succumbed to the heat and had to be led away to recover. But their efforts were not in vain and, with great ceremony, the result was announced. The young Mizo people had indeed set a new world record for dancing the Cheraw! The atmosphere was euphoric! The crowd cheered as one and from somewhere the ceremonial guns appeared blasting their celebratory shots into the blue, blue sky.

I can’t begin to wonder how Chapchar Kut 2011 will top that. But I am sure of one thing. Whilst some people in this crazy world seem keen to dismiss the past as an irrelevance, the people of Mizoram and especially the young people, will continue to uphold their traditions. Celebrating their past with gusto, ingenuity and more importantly perhaps, a smile on their faces!
